Tonium Pacemaker Portable DJ

Its finally here. After turntables, then laptops and finally it has come down to this. Folks at Tonium have catered to the problems of all the DJs who face problems carrying bulky instruments and song collection CDs.
Instead of simply listening to your music you can now completely interact with it, and the possibilities are only limited by your own imagination.
This PSP sized gadget, comes with 120GB of onboard storage space and offers the ability to mix between two distinct channels using an integral crossfader with a variety of effects such as pitch, bend, loop, split loop and EQ/Gain filters – in fact just about everything you’d expect from a DJ mixing desk.
The battery has enough juice to pump up the party for 5 hrs.
This is the most sought after device in the DJ community these days. Young enthusiasts are using this as an alternative to the legendary I-POD and improvising their skills on this as well.
The only issue with this is the price. it is priced at a high of $769 which is pretty hefty.
But im glad that things like these are coming out and a time will come where everybody will host his/her own party being their own DJs.

GE's 500GB Optical Disc

It's more massive than it actually looks. General Electric has come up with a monster 500GB capacity disc. This disc can hold 10 times the data of the current blue ray discs available in the market(100 times the size if the DVD's we use for backups) .
Technically, this is achieved using 3D optics, instead of the “2D” pit method of writing/reading data.
Since the size of the disc is the same as the optical discs we have these days, we can conclude that its not meant for the archive industries only. It is targeting the consumers as well who want to keep hi-def movies , pics and huge amount of digital data. No matter how big your hard drive is , it will only take a couple of these to take a backup.
It is also said that the format and the hardware is very similar to the current prevailing technologies. The only challenge lies in making a tangible hardware for this which i think will soon hit the market since half of the battle is already won.

FFL(Flat Flexible Loudspeakers)

Aluminium foil ?? Naah !! Engineers at Warwick University have developed paper thin speakers . They claim that the speakers not only look good but also deliver clearer and crisper sound . They will be replacing railway and airport's public addressing systems which have bulky speakers. They will also be used in banners and posters for audio advertising. Imagine them at cinema posters.
They are developed using tin foil and baking paper.

"We believe this is a truly innovative technology. Its size and flexibility means it can be used in all sorts of areas where space is at a premium. The sound produced by FFLs can be directed straight at its intended audience. The sound, volume and quality does not deteriorate as it does in conventional speakers which means that public announcements in passenger terminals could be clearer, crisper and easier to hear." says Steve Couchman, the chief executive of Warwick Audio Technology.
My question to him is " Where is the sound coming from?? Our sound filter at the speaker is thicker than this !!"
Seems like people are goin to have a hard time handling the WIRE instead of the speakers.
Man !! wat next ?? Invisible Speakers ??
(you'll never know)

ON AIR Wrist Watch

Designer Iskender Asanaliev from Turkey has come up with the ON AIR wrist watch where the hour hand will point out to the current hour while minutes are being displayed in the digital format on the hour hand. This device is probably the coolest fusion of analog and digital worlds.
whats even cooler is that the display is touch sensitive. if you are in a dark surrounding and want to see the time, just press the centre of the display for 5 seconds.
Once the LED flashes, you can push either the upper or lower corner of the display to set the hour, while the left and right corners will set the minutes.
(This shall be quite interesting!)

Topps 3D Baseball Cards

Topps have been there since a long time in the business of baseball cards. Now it has decided to bring these cards to life.
Fans in possession of a card can place it in front of a web cam and see a 3D avatar of the respective player on the computer screen. Wat's even more interesting is that the avatar on the screen rotates as you rotate the card. Theres even more, the player also performs a signature move.
This phenomenon called “augmented reality,” a combination of a real image with a virtual one.
Well now people have got a reason to collect cards in this internet age where facts and data about any player are avilable at a click.
A dozen of cards are priced at $2.

Western Digital 8TB Sharespace

Western Digital came up with a monster storage device which they claim is enough for a small office (What kind of small office needs 8TBs man??). This device is capable of streaming data seamlessly to devices like Xbox 360 and PS3 and also include features like improved read/write speeds of up to 30% for large media files.
Seems pretty compact as far as 8TB devices go(well how many are there anyways?).
Now comes the hard part , this device is gona dig a big hole in your pocket because it is priced at a huge amount of $1700. But after doing the math its comes round about $.12 per gb.(now thats worth !! or is it??)
